CALIFORNIA TRAVEL & TOURISM COMMISSION WINS VISION AWARDS
League of American Communications Professionals Gives CTTC
the Gold for Outstanding Annual Report
(SACRAMENTO, Calif.) – The California Travel & Tourism Commission (CTTC) has won two gold awards from the League of American Communications Professionals (LACP) for excellence in developing its creative and informative 2007-2008 annual report, Insights Year in Review, announced Caroline Beteta, CTTC president and CEO and chair of the U.S. Travel Association.

“We’re thrilled to receive such high honors for our work, especially as this was our first year participating in the contest, and we competed with 3,500 organizations from 22 countries,” Beteta said. “To win a high-level award, organizations were required to demonstrate outstanding focus on shareholders and their interests, while making sure strategic and tactical decisions were presented in an engaging way.”

CTTC won a Gold Award in two categories: Overall – Non-Profits and Most Improved – Americas Region. According to LACP, less than one out of every five entries received award-level recognition.

“Overall, we find this work to be outstanding, earning a total score of 95 out of a maximum 99 points awarded in this competition,” said Christine Kennedy, LACP managing director. “The first impression presented by this annual report was superb, while the cover and letter to the shareholders are both outstanding. The work is supported by a robust financials section that we believe is excellent.”

In their formal comments to CTTC, LACP judges praised Insights for its magazine-style format, “providing an engaging and fresh storytelling approach for the readers to enjoy. Very clever and well developed…The style and design of this book is very contemporary, speaking to the organization’s high level of relevance and connection with greater world events and trends.”

The CTTC is a non-profit organization with a mission to develop and maintain marketing programs - in partnership with the state's travel industry - that keep California top-of-mind as a premier travel destination. According to the CTTC, travel and tourism expenditures total $97.6 billion annually in California, support jobs for 924,000 Californians and generate $5.8 billion in state and local tax revenues.
