Global Connections Introduces Concierge Program
Sales Increase Dramatically Among Distributors

Global Connections, Inc., one of the nation’s most respected travel clubs, has recently announced the introduction of a unique program that has been highly successful in encouraging purchasers to select the highest membership level.

Explains Global President Tom Lyons, “We monitor trends in the vacation industry to ensure that our travel club continues to evolve to meet the changing needs of our consumer. After recently creating Global Discovery Elite - a concierge program for top echelon members - we’ve experienced a significant increase in sales and upgrades to the highest membership level.”

The new Global Discovery Elite is a distinctive concierge program that provides inviting upgrade opportunities and value added enhancements to existing members, resulting in the use of exclusive products and services. Global Discovery Vacations (GDV) is the travel club product of Global Connections. It offers Star Credits, similar to timeshare’s points-based programs, designed to allow members to select programs to fit their lifestyle and budget.

In September 2006, Global Connections launched sales of an exclusive program for the Six Star membership—the highest level in the GDV travel club – benefiting both members and Global Connections’ sales distributors. Members pay no additional cost to use the Global Discovery Elite Concierge program for the first year.

With one phone call, members can buy event tickets, receive restaurant referrals, tee time reservations, and floral and gift services, from home or a resort destination anywhere in the world. Additional benefits include emergency travel services and rental vehicle returns.

“The member enjoys a wider booking window and highly specialized services,” says Global Marketing Vice President Melanie Gring. “Similar industry programs do not offer the depth and choices of Global Discovery Elite. Plus, you don’t have to be traveling to use the concierge service. The program continues to meet with high acceptance at all of our 18 sales centers.”

Terry Diegel of Global Vacation Network located in St. Louis Park, MN has been a GDV distributor since 1992. He says the program directly impacts his business. “It is unique for a travel club to be so service oriented that they have far surpassed the expectations of their distributors and their customers. With the addition of the Elite Program, we have increased our average sale at no additional cost and greatly enhanced the travel club product by escalating the level of customer services.”

Equally attractive to buyers is the 13-month advance reservation request, putting the Elite member in the front of the line for the first-come, first-served policy when reserving condominiums. In 2006, Global Discovery Vacations’ members used over 22,000 weeks in almost 700 resorts located from the Midwest to the Caribbean.

Headquartered in Overland Park, Kansas, the 20-year old travel club has a membership base of more than 100,000 and provides the total fulfillment of each member’s request. The company manages condominiums across the United States, owns resorts in Florida, Colorado, California and Tennessee, and condominium units in Hawaii, Wisconsin, Nevada, Texas, Colorado and Florida with property management divisions to oversee them. Partner alliances with well-known timeshare companies along with leased properties provide on-demand locations around the world. Global is a fully licensed and bonded travel company in good standing with ARDA, ASTA, CARE, CLIA, IATA and VRMA.
